Dating with a Disability Made Easier: Introducing DATEABILITY.

Navigating the dating world and ultimately finding love can be extremely challenging when you are living with a disability. Many people have shallow misconceptions about what it means to be disabled, or think that dating with a disability would be too burdensome and difficult – of course, we as disabled people know that this could not be further from the truth!

Still though, despite knowing what our reality is actually like, and that we are more than capable of being fantastic partners irrespective of disability, these strong-hold biases often get in the way of finding our one-true match!

That’s one of the core reasons why sisters, Alexa and Jacqueline Child set about creating Dateability – a dating app specifically designed for those living with disabilities and chronic illnesses.

Here at The World is Accessible, we’re proud to be associated with Dateability and have hosted one or two of their adverts within our Facebook group. We feel it is important to let it be known to the greater disabled community that dating options are out there – aside from the traditional methods of Tinder, Hinge, and others.

Nobody should have to face judgment or resistance when entering the dating world, but all too often, this is exactly what awaits those who are dating with a disability. Misconceptions often center on the idea that disabled people cannot have sex, or that they shouldn’t have children for fear of passing on their genes to a child. Those without disabilities may also harbor subconscious worries about what their friends and family might think about them dating someone with a disability. All of these aspects, and more, are cloaked in cruelness and will often result in disabled people feeling ever-increasingly marginalized and unworthy. Dateability aims to try and stop this from happening.

If you’re interested in giving Dateability a try then why not head over to their website and click the links to find the app on either the Google Play Store of the App Store?
