There’s nothing quite like a trip to Disney World. The rides, the shows, and the snacks. (I’m still dreaming about Mickey Mouse ice cream.) But for anyone using a mobility scooter, planning ahead can make the difference between a magical day and a stressful one.
I recently had the chance to visit Disney’s Epcot theme park with my family — and yes, I brought my mobility scooter along for the adventure. After several knee surgeries, I can’t spend all day on my feet like I used to, but that didn’t stop me from exploring every corner of the park.
If you’re planning a Disney trip and wondering how a mobility scooter fits into the experience, here are some essentials I wish everyone knew before rolling through the most magical place on earth, starting with two popular questions:
Absolutely. Mobility scooters (ECVs) are welcome in all Disney World theme parks, resorts, and transportation systems. Whether you bring your own or rent one, you’ll have access to designated accessible entrances, parking spots, and transportation like monorails and buses. Most rides have accessible queues or alternative entrances, and cast members are trained to support guests using mobility devices.
It’s worth noting that scooters must be no more than 32″ wide and 52″ long to fit safely within Disney guidelines. You can check these specifications on the official Disney website or with your rental provider if you’re not bringing your own.
If you’re considering renting directly from Disney, prices currently sit around $65 per day, with a refundable deposit of $20. Rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can’t be reserved in advance.
That’s why people often opt to rent elsewhere or bring their own scooter from home. Third-party options often offer lower daily rates, hotel delivery, multi-day discounts, and scooters that are better suited to extended use and travel comfort.
Not all scooters are created equal, especially when it comes to theme park travel. Between tight lines, crowded walkways, and constant loading/unloading, portability becomes a huge factor.
For my trip, I used the Go-Go Super Portable mobility scooter by Pride Mobility. What I loved most about this model was how incredibly easy it was to fold up and fit right into the trunk of our car. It gave me full independence without being bulky or difficult to manage.
You can check out the exact scooter I used right here.
That said, whether you rent or bring your own, look for a scooter that’s:
Trust me, after 8+ hours of park-hopping, comfort becomes king.
Disney does offer scooter rentals at each park, but there are some trade-offs to consider.
Personally, I preferred having my own scooter for the entire trip — from the hotel to the park to wherever else we ventured in Orlando. It gave me total freedom without worrying about rental hours or availability.
If you’re traveling from out of town and can’t bring your own, there are also several Orlando-based companies that offer multi-day scooter rentals with delivery to your hotel.

Disney World’s Epcot theme park is one of the most accessible vacation destinations in the world, but a little planning goes a long way when using a mobility scooter.
Bring the right equipment, add a few helpful accessories, and don’t rush your day. Disney magic happens in the little moments — rolling through the World Showcase, laughing with family, or catching a perfect sunset over Spaceship Earth.

Thanks! I found your review to be very informative. Lots of useful information. I am going to Orlando next week with my husband and was unsure of how I would cope in my electric wheelchair . My favourite park has always been Epcot. I may give it a try.
